The amazon mats are made of cotton by the Shipibo people who live in the north central part of the Peruvian rainforest in the Rio Ucayali/Pucallpa area. The people here experience terrible heat and humidity along with torrential rains. They are proud of their artesania and are interested in sharing their crafts with the outside world.
